Picking a Color Palette

Start out by picking a color palette to show your florist. Look around on the web or Pinterest for different ideas. This color palette will be the main colors for your entire wedding. Once this is decided, you can start the planning!

Setting a Budget

It is important to set a budget that you are comfortable with for your wedding flowers. Not many people realize that your wedding flowers can take up a big chunk of your budget. An important tip would be to write down all of the different arrangements that you want to be included in your big day!

Budget Tip: If you want floral arrangements during your ceremony but don’t have the money in your budget, think about using the table centerpieces to dress up the ceremony. After the ceremony takes place, you can ask someone to transport them back to the venue or if your reception is at the same place, ask the wedding coordinator to help get them back to the tables. This is a great way to reduce some costs and still have beautiful arrangements during your ceremony.

The Bride’s Bouquet

This will be the most important floral design on your wedding day, so make sure to splurge on this one! Not only is it the bouquet that you, the bride, will be carrying around all day but it will be in so many of your wedding photos. Flowers are chosen based on your color palette but also for their texture, shape, complimenting personal style, taste, and the overall wedding day look. Once the actual wedding bouquet has been designed, then brides can add a more special touch to them. Some brides add more of a deeper sentiment to the arrangement such as a photo of a loved one that has passed, a special piece of jewelry or a charm. Florists are so talented; they can make almost any request work.

Budget tip: Try to pick flowers that are in season to help reduce the cost of flowers that are not in season.

Boutineer

Many feel that grooms do not have a whole lot of options as far as accessories go for their wedding day. But that is not true! Grooms have more options than you think and the boutineer is one of the ways the groom can add that special touch to their suit! The boutineer can be different in color, shape and size and honestly, it can be as bold and unique as you want it to be. So don’t be afraid to try something that is a little different than the everyday norm

Bridesmaid Bouquets

Just like the bride’s arrangements, the bridesmaid’s flowers will have an array of colors and elegance about them as well. There are so many different colors, styles and arrangements that you can choose. These arrangements are smaller and slightly different than the brides with the intent of letting the bride shine.

Reception Centerpieces

Reception centerpieces can be the most eye‑catching piece when your guests enter the reception. Centerpieces can arrange from all being one size in height and flowers or an arrangement of different sizes and flowers. In more recent years, we have seen that the centerpieces have been all different heights which look awesome at the reception. So feel free to get creative here.

Ceremony Flowers

If you decide to go with ceremony flowers, try to ensure that the arrangements not only match your color palette, but also the ceremony location as well. If you are having an outdoor ceremony, think of the landscape that is around the isle. Or if you are getting married in a church, do the flowers match the inside of the church or the pews? Also, when you do hire your florists, make sure that your florist knows the location so you can work together to coordinate the arrangements.
